Vo2max Fitness has over 15 Personal Trainers on staff to help you reach your fitness goals with one-on-one individualized sessions! Our Coaches work with people who have never worked out before, all the way to Crossfit regionals athletes! Whatever your specific goals may be our coaches will keep you motivated, accountable, safe and focused.
CrossFit On-Ramp / Intro Program
Prior to attending regular adult CrossFit classes, VO2Max’s On-Ramp/Intro is available for any beginner CrossFitter. These beginner classes are mandatory at VO2Max, unless you have 3-6 months CrossFit experience. If you have done CrossFit in the past, feel free to use this program as a great refresher for improving your existing technique and skill set. No matter how experienced you are, these are valuable sessions and worth your time.
Classes will highlight the different fundamental movements used in CrossFit. Each session will include warm-up, technical skill session and a mini-WOD. Each individual is unique so in order to “graduate” to regular adult CrossFit classes, you will need to be “passed” by the CrossFit coach. This will depend on your improving fitness level and skill development during the course of your classes attended.
CrossFit On-Ramp / Intro Program – Fast track option
If you are looking to speed up the on-ramp process or the class times do not work for you we offer a personal training option that condenses the on-ramp program into five 60 min long personal training sessions. This package includes two weeks of unlimited classes for you to use after you have completed the 5 sessions and a Vo2max t-shirt.
VO2Max is Grande Prairie’s first and only CrossFit gym. CrossFit VO2Max is very different from a commercial gym.
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
The community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together is a key component of why CrossFit is so effective. The 60 minute classes include a warm up, technical instruction and a WOD (workout of the day). Workouts can be ‘scaled’ for all abilities resulting in a diverse class of adults, kids or teens.
Every fitness facility offers bootcamps, but none are quite like VO2Max’s unique style. If you like creative, high intensity interval training in a group setting, then our classes are sure to keep you challenged and engaged!
Bootcamp class programing changes daily and utilizes equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, sleds, and tires, and includes body weight movements like air squats, push ups, lunges, and much more.
You don’t have to be in shape to come to bootcamp, but be prepared to get in shape once you get here!
Private Programming (FitBot)
Fit Bot is online personal programs. You will meet with a trainer, discuss options and set goals. A program will then be designed just for you and will be updated daily. You will have 24hr contact with your coach if you have any questions and need any changes made! Fitbot is set up as a monthly auto-pay. (You must have a punch pass or gym membership if you plan on using Vo2Max facilities.)
Postural and Movement Assessment
If you are noticing that you struggle with certain movements in the gym book an appointment with Ernie today. Performance training should often start with optimizing posture and movement first and foremost. In these appointments Ernie will go over a full assessment of your posture and movements. Ernie can then design and coach you through program/corrective strategies aimed at optimizing your movement, performance and health.
Child Watch is available for children between 6 months and 6 years. All Child Watch staff have cleared their Vulnerable Sector Check and completed their Emergency ChildCare First Aid and CPR course. Every hour, space is limited to a certain number of children, dependent on registered ages. For your children’s safety, a maximum of one baby (6-12 mo) and several children between 1 and 6 are allowed. Parents must remain on site at VO2Max.
Reserving for Child Watch – Members may call our front desk at 780.518.0469 and book their child into Child Watch one week ahead of their preferred class, and Non-members can book one day in advance. Our Child Watch hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.
Vo2max has 5 platforms available for Olympic and powerlifting. Lifters must have at least 3 Months experience and must meet with one of our coaches before lifting. Platforms available on a first come first serve basis during all of our regularly open hours.
