Personal Training is both viewed as a long-term commitment by the client towards their specific goals as well as a short term means to help a client get back on track towards another mode of fitness. The detailed instruction of form/ exercise execution will be unmatched in all other services and the efficiency and effectiveness of your time as a result will be much greater. VO2Max is Grande Prairie’s first CrossFit gym. CrossFit VO2Max is very different from a commercial gym.

CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

The community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together is a key component of why CrossFit is so effective. The 60 minute classes include a warm up, technical instruction and a WOD (workout of the day). Workouts can be ‘scaled’ for all abilities resulting in a diverse class of adults, kids or teens.

Boot Camp

Every fitness facility offers bootcamps, but none are quite like VO2Max’s unique style. If you like creative, high intensity interval training in a group setting, then our classes are sure to keep you challenged and engaged!
Bootcamp class programing changes daily and utilizes equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, sleds, and tires, and includes body weight movements like air squats, push ups, lunges, and much more.
You don’t have to be in shape to come to bootcamp, but be prepared to get in shape once you get here!

Personalized Online Programming

This service will be based 100% as a progression towards the clients individual/ specific goals and needs. Using the TrueCoach APP, the client and coach will communicate daily. The coach will provide the client with all their workouts which will include demo videos, written instruction, feedback, and the ability for the coach to review videos from the client. This service can be both viewed as a long term means to help the client progress towards their goals, or as a short term means to give the client some specific work to enable them to later continue with our group classes or another endeavour. The largest advantage of this service is the removal of all fitness aspects that will be none related to the client’s specific needs/ goals, which should lead to greater results relative to that individual client. Clients who use this service have a wide range of goals, including body composition goals, endurance events, strength events, sport specific goals, and health and wellness aspirations. Price of this service will vary depending on the coach. 

Postural and Movement Assessment

If you are noticing that you struggle with certain movements in the gym book an appointment with Ernie today. Performance training should often start with optimizing posture and movement first and foremost. In these appointments Ernie will go over a full assessment of your posture and movements. Ernie can then design and coach you through program/corrective strategies aimed at optimizing your movement, performance and health.

Child Watch

Child Watch is available for children between 6 months and 6 years. All Child Watch staff have cleared their Vulnerable Sector Check and completed their Emergency ChildCare First Aid and CPR course. Every hour, space is limited to a certain number of children, dependent on registered ages. For your children’s safety, a maximum of one baby (6-12 mo) and several children between 1 and 6 are allowed. Parents must remain on site at VO2Max.

Reserving for Child Watch – Members may call our front desk at 780.518.0469 and book their child into Child Watch one week ahead of their preferred class, and Non-members can book one day in advance. Our Child Watch hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.
