V:Tell us a bit about yourself.

D: I was born and raised here. I grew up in Sexsmith. I have lived in the Peace region pretty much my whole life.

V:How long have you been a member at VO2max?

D: Gee, I can’t remember exactly. Can you look it up? I was at the other location for quite a while …. 5 years ?

V:What lead you to start your fitness journey?

D: Our office was just across the parking lot from  the previous  VO2Max location. A few of the people from work had started a group membership. They said how great it was, and I watched some of the workouts, so I joined about a month or so after they started. There are several of us from the original group still training today.

V:What is your favourite workout / movement?

D:I like weight training, but I like pretty much anything really, as I need the aerobic fitness as well as the strength.  I like the circuit type wods. But Mike my trainer will say I whine about any workout equally! I lack the discipline when comes to eating, but I am working on it. Of course I hate  burpees- who doesn’t?

V:What do you do for work?

D: I have worked in IT (informations Technology) for 18 years, and recently stated in sales of business computer and network systems. I am a desk jockey so the need for regular exercise is very important- sitting most of the day is obviously not good for you.

V:What is one thing people would be surprised  to learn about you?

D: Surprising? Hmmm, that is a tough one. This may not be surprising, but since I joke around a lot at the gym, people might be surprised to learn I am actually very shy.

D: As much as I enjoy the physical exercise it is the great atmosphere that keeps me coming back. I workout with an awesome group of people, who I have a lot of fun with. I have a great trainer Mike who has helped me make some real progress over the years. Actually, from what I have seen, all the staff at VO2max are great in my opinion. I really look forward to coming to the gym, which is why you may have seen me around quite a bit.

V: Tell us a bit about yourself?

R: I’m a Montessori teacher and I’ve lived in Grande Prairie all my life. I’ve made some of the most amazing friends in this place and you’ll probably see me around the gym getting in trouble for talking too much! I also love messing with people when they’re working out too; how I haven’t been kicked out yet I’m not sure.

V: How long have you been a member at VO2MAX?

R:I’ve been coming here for just over two years now.

V: What lead you to start your fitness journey at VO2?

R: I’ve always been active my whole life and use to dance since I was little but I started going to the gym when I was around 17. I stumbled upon crossfit when my boyfriend at the time and I were watching The Road to the Games on Netflix and he said how much he wanted to do it and I decided to try it with him so the next day we came down and signed up and the rest is history!

V: What is your favourite workout/movement?

R: Hmm… probably anything gymnastics especially muscle ups.

V: What do you do for work?

R:I’m a teacher. ☺

V: What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

R: Honestly I asked quite a few friends for help on this question and most said “there’s nothing that surprises me about you by now.” Good thing? Bad thing? Ha

V: If there is anything else you want to add feel free!!

I love this place. I love the atmosphere, the friends I’ve made, my coach. Whether I’m having an awesome day or an awful day, this is where I want to be.

I joined VO2max on December 22, 2017.

V:What lead you to start your fitness journey at VO2?

I missed the feeling of being strong and want to be able do all the outdoor activities that I love to do. It also provides stress relief.

V:What is your favourite workout/movement?

Cardio is pretty good!  I like lifting weights and love how ab work-outs make me feel stronger.

V:What do you do for work?

I work for Seven Generations Energy in the well completions office which I’ve been doing now for about 3 years.

V:What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

I achieved my GED diploma at the young age of 45.
